Whiteness: The whiteness of toilet paper is related to raw materials, such as the choice of cotton pulp and wood pulp raw materials. If the cotton pulp is added with starch, the density of the pulp powder will be more uniform and neat. As in the past when people starched the sheets (cotton quilts, used cotton fabrics), the cotton fabrics are clean and tidy without wrinkles after being starched. Using cotton stalks and cotton linters as raw materials, it is made by heating with an appropriate amount of alkaline water at high temperature, and it contains relatively pure cellulose. The fibers are slender and elastic, tough and foldable, and have good absorbency. The resulting paper is fine and soft with a high degree of opacity. Cotton linters are those coarse batts that are filtered through the first process of ginning the fine batt portion of cotton for weaving. For example, cotton stalks are rich in plant fibers, and some short fibers remain on cotton seeds (hair seeds). These short fibers are peeled off with a fluffing machine, which is called “cotton linters”. Cotton linters are composed of three parts; the first part comes from the longer fibers of the “hair head”; the second part comes from the fibers on the seed that are broken by the gin; the third part is a short and Dense fibers, which are the main component of cotton linters.
